Terry Stotts Wins 2019 Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year Award

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts has received the 2019 Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year award from the Oregon Sports Awards, it was announced Wednesday. Per the organization’s website, the award goes to an “outstanding coach, administrator or organization from an Oregon-based team at any level of competition.”

Stotts was a finalist along with Kelly Graves of the Oregon women’s basketball team and Giovanni Savarese of the Portland Timbers.

Background on Slats Gill:

Slats Gill attended and coached basketball at Oregon State from 1929 until 1964, when he became Portland Thorns FC athletic director. He won four Pacific Coast Conference championships and two of his teams reached the Final Four.
