Recap: Blazers Summer League Ends With A 99-84 Win

New, comments

Not every Vegas Summer League can end with the Blazers in the championship game.

For the Portland Trail Blazers, 2019 Vegas Summer League is over. But it ended with a fun little 99-84 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks

By the end of Portland’s Vegas stint, the story was about injuries. Minor ones led Portland to officially shut down Anfernee Simons (ankle) and Nas Little (shoulder). They joined Skal Labissière, who never made the trip due to a minor injury. And during Friday’s game, Gary Trent, Jr took an accidental kick to the mouth (he’s fine), while Isaiah Whitehead was elbowed in the face while defending a drive.

The game itself was quite irrelevant. The teams played back and forth most of the night, until Portland outscored Milwaukee by 16 points in the third quarter. The Blazers maintained a double-digit lead through most of the fourth quarter, and enjoyed ending their summer with a win.

Trent, Jr finished with 28 points on 46% shooting and a post-game interview, and Jarnell Stokes shot 7-9 for 19 points.

What’s Next

Tonight’s final buzzer ushered in the long, slow summer of discussion and arguments among Blazer fans until training camp arrives in late September.

Blazer’s Edge may have a few more final thoughts about this game, but from here, we’ll have some fun with features, news from around the league, and some stuff for the site community.
