The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to add former NBA guard Jannero Pargo to head coach Terry Stotts’ coaching staff, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported Friday evening. Pargo played 12 years in the NBA for seven different teams, most notably for the New Orleans Hornets, where he appeared in 162 of 164 total games in two seasons.

Pargo was still playing professionally in the NBA G-League two years ago, until he was picked up by the Chicago Bulls organization in September of 2017 and tapped to fill an assistant coach position with their G-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.
Pargo is a well regarded coaching prospect and still fit enough to participate in the Big 3 this summer. Portland fills a void with the departure of David Vanterpool, who received a promotion in Minnesota. https://t.co/ruxrvcFTje— Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) June 22, 2019
At this time, it is unclear what role Pargo will be asked to fill within the Blazers’ coaching staff. This season will be the first time in Damian Lillard’s career without the recently departed assistant head coach David Vanterpool, who left to fill an associate head coach position with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
