Vogel, who served as the Magic’s coach for two seasons before he was fired at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season, will attempt to steady a Lakers franchise that is navigating its way through rough waters. Earlier this month, talks with former Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue fell apart.
Prior to arriving in Orlando, Vogel made a name for himself with the Pacers in the early part of the decade. Along with hiring Vogel, the Wojnarowski revealed that Jason Kidd will also join the Lakers’ coaching staff.
Through eight years, Vogel has a regular season coaching record of 304-291. His last playoff appearance as a coach was during the Pacers’ first-round exit in the 2016 postseason.
