Prior to Sunday’s postseason matchup between the Trail Blazers and Thunder, injured center Jusuf Nurkic dropped in on a film session at the team’s practice facility. Nurkic, who suffered two compound fractures in left leg against the Nets, appeared to be in good spirits as he visited his teammates on Saturday.
Trail Blazers Digital Reporter Casey Holdahl captured quotes from both Maurice Harkless and CJ McCollum as the practice session wrapped up. According to Harkless, Nurkic kept things light and poked a little fun at Head Coach Terry Stotts.
“He came in during the film sessions, surprised everybody,” said Trail Blazers forward Moe Harkless. “It was pretty cool. He spent some time with us, so it was definitely good to see him outside of his house, moving around and in a better mood.”

“He just said what’s up to everybody,” said Harkless. “Told Coach he figured he might need a little help. It was fun though, you know Nurk, he keeps it light all the time. You could tell he was in a better mood than he has been.”
McCollum echoed Harkless’ assessment of Nurkic’s mood. The former Lehigh standout also made it clear that he looks forward to more visits from the Bosnian Beast.
“It was good to see the big fella outside of the house. Seems like his spirits are high, he’s doing things the right way, he’s rehabbing well and mentally he seems engaged. I’m looking forward to seeing him around more often.”
Prior to his injury, Nurkic was enjoying a career-best season. In 72 starts, he produced 15.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. The 24-year-old big fella is under contract with the Blazers through the 2021-22 season.
