Former Portland Trail Blazers all-star forward Rasheed Wallace will coach boys basketball for Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina.
Jordan high school held a press conference to announce the news this morning. HighSchoolOT.com has a pair of videos up featuring footage of the press conference and an interview with Wallace.
In the press conference, Wallace described the rigors of high school coaching.
One of my mentors told me today that it’s no different than being a veteran out there on the floor, except now you’re not getting paid all those big dollars and you’ve got to get up a bit earlier to get to your meetings.
In the interview, he said he was happy to be thrown in the deep end and to learn how to swim.
Wallace played for the Trail Blazers between 1996 and 2004, averaging 16.8 points and 7.0 rebounds, making two All-Star appearances during that stretch.
