The Portland Trail Blazers, with a 39-25 record, currently stand in a three-way tie for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets. There’s reasons to be optimistic about the Blazers’ chances at home-court advantage in the NBA Playoffs at the very least, but a top-three finish is certainly on the table as well.
In playoffs predictions by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, he has the Blazers finishing the season as the No. 3 seed, with the Rockets securing the No. 4 seed and the Thunder falling all the way to No. 6 (behind the Utah Jazz at No. 5). In his reasoning for OKC’s drop, Hughes says:
Oklahoma City slips here because it has the toughest remaining schedule in the West based on opponent winning percentage. Utah has the easiest by far, which explains its climb from its current No. 6 spot.
Portland owns the tiebreaker over Houston (2-1 season series), is tied with the Jazz (2-2 season series), and has already lost the tiebreaker to OKC (3-0 season series).
