Damian Lillard is once again leading the Trail Blazers’ charge into the NBA Playoffs. Portland’s rise up the standings has coupled with Lillard’s individual achievements to garner him attention down the final stretch of the regular season. In NBA.com’s newest Kia MVP Ladder, writer Sekou Smith placed Lillard at No. 7 on the list.
Smith’s rankings are dominated by Western Conference players. The rankings begin with Rockets’ guard James Harden at No. 1 with Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo as the lone Eastern Conference representative in the top five. Lillard is sandwiched between Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid on the rankings.
Lillard currently ranks No. 10 in points per game and No. 19 in assists per game on the individual leaderboards. The Blazers own a 38-24 record and have two more games remaining on their current seven-game road trip.
