When the Portland Trail Blazers tip-off the 2019-20 NBA season, it will mark the start of a milestone 50th anniversary for this storied franchise. Team executives and other special guests will announce initial plans and unveil key elements of next season’s celebration from inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum, original home for the team’s first 25 years. February 6 has also been chosen for these historic announcements – the very date in 1970 when the NBA Board of Governors granted Portland its franchise.

Blazers President and CEO Chris McGowan will be joined by Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, Founding President Harry Glickman, first ever team draft pick Geoff Petrie, and legendary announcer Bill Schonely at Memorial Coliseum for the 2pm announcement.

In attendance will be members of the inaugral group of Trail Blazers season ticket holders.

What should the team do to celebrate their 50th anniversary? Let us know!
