Before the Oscar festivities get underway Sunday evening, Blazer’s Edge is asking its readers to participate in list of Blazers-themed awards. Each category will include three nominees and a brief list of accolades.

Trail Blazers Breakout Performer

This award goes to the Blazers player that has made the most noticeable leap this season.

The Nominees:

Jake Layman | PTS: 8.1 | REB: 3.1

Layman is the latest Blazers player to benefit from the third-year leap. After seeing limited action to start his career, the former Maryland standout has become a staple of Head Coach Terry Stotts’ lineup.

Seth Curry | PTS: 6.2 | 3P%: 45.6

Curry has hit the ground running with the Blazers after missing significant time due to injury. His overall production doesn’t exactly jump out, but Curry has been efficient.

Meyers Leonard | PTS: 6.0 | REB: 3.9

The arrival of Enes Kanter will cut into Leonard’s production, but that doesn’t detract from his early-season contributions. Leonard has appeared in 52 games this season, which is up from his 33 outings last year.
