Before the Oscar festivities get underway Sunday evening, Blazer’s Edge is asking its readers to participate in list of Blazers-themed awards. Each category will include three nominees and a brief list of accolades.

Trail Blazers Outstanding Player

This award goes to the Blazers player that has stood out the most this season. Damian Lillard headlines the category, but Jusuf Nurkic’s run of strong play makes him a viable underdog candidate.

The Nominees:

Damian Lillard | PTS: 25.9 | AST: 6.4 | REB: 4.6

Lillard is the clear team leader in Portland and he is fresh off his fourth All-Star Game appearance. Like Daniel Day-Lewis, it is tough to bet against Lillard when he is nominated.

Jusuf Nurkic | PTS: 15.4 | REB: 10.2 | BLK: 1.5

Nurkic is a force to reckon with on both ends of the court for the Blazers this season. Even next to Lillard, it is tough to discount the 24-year-old center’s contributions.

CJ McCollum | PTS: 20.9 | AST: 2.8 | REB: 4.1

Despite noticeable dips in key areas, McCollum only trails Lillard in points production.
