Blazer’s Edge Night, 2019 has sold out! Thank you, Blazer’s Edge Readers and everybody in the Portland Trail Blazers community. On Monday, when we last posted, 1150 tickets had been donated against requests of 1800 that had already come in from people working with children and youth in need. Twenty-four hours later, the number of tickets donated had soared to 2,111 and the Blazers were scrambling to find more seats for donors calling in. We finally ran out of seats at 2,222.
Because of you...because of each and every one of you who donated, 2,222 kids and their chaperones will go to see the Blazers play the Brooklyn Nets on March 25th. 2,222 seats will be filled with passionate celebration. Whether you donated one ticket or a hundred, you can tune in that night and know that, at least vicariously, you are a part of it.
By the way, that 2,222 includes EVERYBODY you’ve read about in the thank-you and request stories along the way this season. I chose thank-you’s from people who came last year and had requested a new group of tickets for this year’s class. If you were touched by any of the stories, know that you made the participation of those teachers, counselors, coaches, and their students possible. Tomorrow I get to contact them and say, “Yes! Tell your kids that they’re going to see the Blazers!”
They are ALL going, and more, because of you.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who donated. I want to give a special shout-out to Peter Sampson, Chad Doing, Travis Demers, and John Canzano for helping us get the word out on radio, to Danny Marang and the Blazers Outsiders on NBCSports Northwest for carrying the flag on television, to Meyers Leonard, to Scott at Affordable Tire Pros on Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, and our SBNation colleagues at Nets Daily for helping out too. Plus a huge thank you to Alec Botts, our ticket coordinator with the Blazers.
2,222.
Thank you, Blazer’s Edge! Time to celebrate. You did it.

How Blazer’s Edge Night Happens
Teachers, principals, counselors, coaches, and all manner of people who work with children and youth in need write in to us, asking if we can provide tickets for their charges. We respond to as many as we can, given our ticket totals. We provide tickets for the young folks and chaperones. When you donate a ticket, you’re purchasing them directly from the Trail Blazers organization. They are held in a special account. We submit our list of recipients to the Blazers. They sort out the tickets accordingly at leave them at Will Call for the night of the event. The leaders pick them up, hand them to their party, and away they go, into the arena to see the Blazers play!
Thank you for helping this happen each year. The recipients are beyond thrilled when we tell them they get to go!
