The Trail Blazers’ excruciating loss to the Mavericks featured a fourth quarter collapse and a handful of questionable calls in the final moments of the contest. After enjoying multiple double-digit leads, Portland’s offense cratered in the final period. Led by a 28-point performance from rookie Luka Doncic, the Mavericks sealed a thrilling victory over the Blazers.
Portland’s offense produced a paltry nine points in the fourth quarter. Despite a lack of scoring, the Blazers had a chance to re-capture the lead with time running out. Damian Lillard snaked his way to the basket, but was met by Maxi Kleber at the rim. There was no whistle in on the play, but it appeared that both Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith made contact with Lillard at different points of the possession.
