Jusuf Nurkic took the floor during a recent practice, rocking a headband while taking shots, and looking more like the Bosnian Beast fans remember. Jason Quick of the Athletic captured Nurkic’s conversation with the media following his performance on the court, where Nurkic expressed his desire to come back better than ever after a season-ending and potentially career-altering leg injury last spring.
“I feel hungry,” Nurkic said Saturday in Phoenix after an on-court workout with assistant coaches. “I feel every day hunger more. And when I’m with the team, I feel even more hungry. I lost some weight, and feel great — more explosive, more quick — and when the day comes, I’m going to be the double Beast.”
Rip City has followed the recovery of Nurkic closely, and according to the man himself, he estimates that he is about 60 percent of the way there. There is currently no timeline from the team as to when Nurkic will come back.
