Trail Blazers Would Be Good Candidates for Draymond Green Trade

Nekias Duncan of Bleacher Report brings up a topic that’s sure to gain heat as the season progresses.

The NBA season is three weeks old. Teams are settling into new lineups and trends. The Portland Trail Blazers have little time to rest on their laurels, however. With multiple veterans on short-term contracts, the team is expected to be receptive to mid-season deals. Over the summer, rumored names included Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, and LaMarcus Aldridge. As the Golden State Warriors stumble out of the block, a new player has hit the trade radar: forward Draymond Green.

Green’s skill set and championship experience would make him a natural fit for the Blazers. NBA writers are starting to take notice. Today Nekias Duncan of Bleacher Report wrote about the possible demise of the Warriors, with the Blazers featured as the first-look candidates to chase Green.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum desperately need a short-roll threat to counter the postseason traps they’ve seen over the past two years. Their best option has been Jusuf Nurkic, who’s currently recovering from a gruesome leg injury. The Blazers have their first-round picks moving forward, interesting young pieces (hello, Nassir Little) and the filler salary necessary to work out a deal.

It’s sketchy, mostly a conversation piece right now, but you can bet rumblings will become more serious if Green drifts farther towards the trading block. Stay tuned.
