Who am I kidding?

At some point before every season, I say to myself, THIS is going to be an interesting season. And it doesn't matter if The Blazers were returning a vetted team with known assets, or were entering a rebuilding year, or anything in between. Maybe it's just my fandom, or just enjoying NBA basketball, but every season set's up to be interesting. It's fundamental, but I probably wouldn't follow the Blazers or the NBA if it wasn't at it's core...interesting.

So who am I kidding? I'm going to say it again. This season is going to be interesting. For those of you that can remember Laugh in- que Arte Johnson " Very Interesting".

Even though I've said it every season before, and I'll say it again in about a year, might I say in earnestness, that I think this upcoming season fits the definition MORE than many other seasons?

I can't think of a team that entered a season with such a combination of known assets, unknown assets, and mixed goals and aspirations.

On one hand this is a returning Western Conferenece finals team, that features the same superlative players it did last season in Damian Lillard, and CJ. McCollum. Which would denote stability.

On the other hand, the Blazers infrastructure change, was more representative of a team looking to totally rebuild than a team looking to take the next step to repeated finals, even championship viability.

If the Blazers had a beautiful table set with Damian Lillard and CJ. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic? Neil Olshey's magic trick has been to pull the tablecloth out from under them...and then try to put a whole new table cloth under them.

It's basically the totally new look Blazers, with the same foundation stones.

And IMO...that makes it more interesting than most seasons.

Maybe more frustrating this off-season, with the never ending questions this situation creates, and with many journalists and pundits, handling Blazer season projections like a Zombie square dance. BUT....

I'm psyched about this season. I'm anxious, up or down, to start getting answers about this team, as opposed to re-churning the valid but repeating questions about the team.

So let's get this very, very, interesting season underway!
