The Trail Blazers secured a 120-111 win over the Atlanta Hawks Saturday despite missing Damian Lillard. One of the brightest spots in Portland’s victory over Atlanta was CJ McCollum’s triple-double. He led the way for the Blazers with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. In the post-game press conference, coach Terry Stotts spoke about how the team stepped up without their on-court leader, Lillard, who did not play due to knee soreness.
Here is the video from Stotts’ press conference.
- Stotts had plenty of praise for the performance of McCollum, who played the point in the absence of Lillard. McCollum’s energy and leadership played a huge difference in the Blazers’ performance according to Stotts.
- He noted the impact that Moe Harkless’ defense had on the game. Harkless had a block and a steal alongside 16 points.
- Stotts reflected on the difficult transition Seth Curry has faced in joining a new team and being slotted behind both Lillard and McCollum in the rotation.
- Al-Farouq Aminu’s “consistent” performance garnered acclaim from Stotts, along with his improved ball-handling in transition.
Winners in five of their last six games, the Blazers will look to keep rolling when the Jazz visit the Moda Center on Wednesday.
