Damian Lillard’s season for the Portland Trail Blazers has been nothing short of stellar, making a strong case for another selection to the NBA All-Star Game. ESPN’s Zach Lowe has put together his All-Star teams, with Lillard listed as a reserve lock alongside LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns.
While Lowe doesn’t offer any explanation for his selection of Lillard, the franchise star’s averages of 26.1 points, 6.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game are a statement on their own.
This follows similar thinking from The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, who also picked Lillard as an All-Star reserve.
Lowe points out Jusuf Nurkic as one of about 20 players vying for the two last All-Star spots; he eventually gives those spots to Russell Westbrook and LaMarcus Aldridge.
