Last week, a rumor that the Phoenix Suns had targeted Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, along with Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier, in a trade but were turned away was reported by ArizonaSports.com’s John Gambadoro. Based off the single tweet about the rumor, and what Phoenix has to offer, Jordan Greer of Sporting News casts his doubt on how realistic Lillard was as a target:
Damian Lillard: No. Nope. Definitely not. Lillard is in the prime of his career and the unquestioned face of the franchise. The Trail Blazers have Lillard for three more years under his current contract, and it’s not as though they’ve just entered a massive rebuild. This doesn’t make sense for Portland.
In fact, Greer thinks all three mentioned PGs are stretches in terms of being realistic. You can read his breakdown of the rumor here.
