Trail Blazers newcomer Nik Stauskas will suit up for his fourth team in five seasons on opening night. The former No. 8 overall pick could be embarking on his last best chance to carve out a meaningful role in the NBA.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman highlighted six former lottery picks that are facing make-or-break years. Stauskas was featured alongside Emmanuel Mudiay, Jahlil Okafor, Noah Vonleh, Cameron Payne and Stanley Johnson.

According to Wasserman, Stauskas can earn minutes by reliably spacing the floor for coach Terry Stotts’ offense.

To carve out a role in Portland and attract more interest next summer, he’ll need to build off last year’s 40.4 percent three-point percentage for the Brooklyn Nets and emerge as a reliable shot-making specialist.
