Necessity is the Mother of New Junk Drawer

I don't recall ever seeing "COMMENTS CLOSED FOR THIS POST" at the end of a Junk Drawer before a new one was up. C'mon now ... I had some things I wanted to say! The closure whippy-chipped my wallpost I had composed, and now I'm too drained to write it all over again. Maybe later (oh boy ... time to bate the breath (what the hell is "bated breath" anyway? (I hear people say it often, but does anyone know what it means?))).

My next Portland roadtrip (arriving Sunday afternoon and leaving the following Monday for a coastal excursion with stops in Seaview, WA, Newport, Port Orford, and Arcata) has been fully booked now, and now it's on to planning each and every meal and snack we shall eat. My sandwich shuffle includes a reuben at Edelweiss, the Bunk meatball, some roast pork thing at Feastworks, and a cemita at that truck in Hillsboro. Maybe also a meatball at Shut Up & Eat. Anything else I should consider adding to this lineup?

Whereas, topics shall drift as they may and always do in the JD (to include whatever movies and TV shows people are watching and international sporting news that Norsktroll collects and shares for us), and

Whereas, if there is any theme suggested above, it shall be "necessity" and what other sandwich shall I eat while in Portland,

Now therefore, suggestive of no such theme of mothering, here are some songs about mothers...

Poison Girls "Jump Mama Jump"
British anarcho-punk band from the early 80s fronted by a gender-queer middle-aged mom.

The Shapes "Wot's for Lunch, Mum? Not Beans Again"
Bratty British teenpunks cut this petulant piece in favor of spotted dick in 1979.

The Styphnoids "Mom's a Fake"
Here's a Portland punk artifact from 1980 which is highly prized by collector scum all over the world.
