Former Trail Blazers All-Star Brandon Roy is stepping aside from his high school coaching position at Seattle’s Garfield High, according to an article by The Seattle Times. The school recently posted a job opening for Roy’s position, though the article cites both Roy and Garfield officials as “unavailable for comment”.
Roy’s tenure at the school included a state championship and significant accolades.
Roy has a 57-1 record over the two seasons, and he was named Naismith National Coach of the Year in 2017.
Roy played for five seasons with the Trail Blazers, averaging 19.0 points per game and posting three All-Star seasons between 2007 and 2010.
