Portland Trail Blazers big man Zach Collins appeared on the Jim Rome Show on Monday morning, and discussed a variety of topics, including the challenges that he faced early on in his rookie campaign:
It was definitely an adjustment. I had to deal with DNP’s, which is something that I had never really dealt with before. So mentally that was a little tough. It was obviously a little humbling too, and it really kind of gets you to work as hard as you possibly can to get on the court. It requires you to ask questions around the coaching staff like “what can you do to get on the court?”
As the season went on, Collins went from bench afterthought to rotation player, averaging 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in nearly 16 minutes per game.
Watch a clip of the interview below. Collins will be in action with the Blazers Summer League roster Monday night in their Summer League semi-finals match-up against the Memphis Grizzlies.
