According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Portland Trail Blazers pursued free agent small forward Mario Hezonja before he ultimately signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the New York Knicks.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Blazers went so far as to make a a formal offer to Hezonja, along with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers:

After Hezonja signed his deal with the Knicks, the Blazers quickly pivoted and came to terms with free agents Nik Stauskas and Seth Curry.

Hezonja, the fifth overall pick in 2015, averaged 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds last season for the Orlando Magic.
