The Portland Trail Blazers selected Anfernee Simons from IMG Academy with the 24th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Simons averaged 22.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 31 Postgrad National Team games with IMG last season. He did not attend college, opting to do a postgrad year after originally committing to Louisville before scandals hampered the program.
You can read an extensive draft profile of Simons’ game here done by our own Steve Dewald. On what Simons brings to Portland, he says:
He’s an accurate three-point shooter and a powerful above-the-rim finisher in the paint. His powerful dunking ability takes center stage in transition. When he isn’t rattling the rim in the open court, the 19-year-old guard creates his own looks at all three levels. Defensively, Simons’ superb wingspan will give him positional versatility once he adds weight.
