Bill Walton will forever live on in Portland Trail Blazers lore for not only being part of the lone championship in team history, but also for the persona that came along with him. Nowadays, Walton can be found doing commentary and providing his stories. The Hall of Famer joined ESPN’s “The Jump” to reminisce on some of his craziest basketball memories in a segment called “What Were You Thinking?” Here are some of the most Bill Walton-y moments:
On the segment’s title
“That assumes that I was thinking at all.”
Being arrested in college for protesting
“I’m just sad I didn’t get arrested more often.”
Dunking on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
“Well, we won the game. I played to win.”
Getting dunked on by Dr. J
[While watching the replay and responding jokingly] “C’mon ref! He’s using my shoulder as a catapult there!”
That is just a taste of what Walton shared with the ESPN crew. He heaped praise onto both Kareem and Dr. J in his appearance, which you can (should) watch above, or here.
