Portland Trail Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic was taken under the wing of Damian Lillard almost as soon as he was ushered out by the Denver Nuggets. Now, Nurkic is doing a bit of mentoring on his own with Bosnia and Herzegovina NBA Draft prospect Dzanan Musa, according to a video posted by Indy Star Sports.

When asked about relationships with players overseas, Musa highlighted Nurkic, whom he played with on the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team:

I speak to him a lot, so we have that kind of relationship.

Q: Has he been helpful during this process?

A lot. He helps me to understand how to talk to the media, to the teams, how to practice, so he’s been helpful.

Musa then shared he sometimes stays up until 3 or 4 a.m. to watch NBA games (if he doesn’t have practice the next day) given the six-hour time difference. Portland is one of the teams he enjoys watching:

Q: What teams or players catch your eye?

Indiana, San Antonio, Atlanta, Portland — the teams who share the ball. I like that kind of basketball; I don’t like the run-and-gun basketball.

Portland is on the list of teams Musa will work out with, according to Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports.
