The Orlando Magic have agreed on a four-year deal with Steve Clifford to become their next head coach, according to the team and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool had interviewed for the job early on in Orlando’s hiring process, but ultimately did not get the promotion — one many around the league feel is coming — to head coach.

Vanterpool also interviewed for the Charlotte Hornets’ vacancy but he did not get the job, with Charlotte bringing on James Borrego as their next head coach.

Fellow Blazers assistant Nate Tibbetts also had a head-coaching interview this offseason, his with the Atlanta Hawks, but he lost out to Lloyd Pierce.
