Portland Trail Blazers guards Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum have been selected as potential candidates for Team USA Basketball, 2018. Lillard and McCollum join a list of elite NBA players including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, and Anthony Davis. 35 players comprise the pool currently. They will be narrowed to 12 in preparation for the 2019 World Cup and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Lillard was in the candidacy pool for Team USA before, in 2014 and 2016, but he exited the process both times through a combination of injury and frustration.
