If the signing (and swift release) of Brandon Rush didn’t excite fans, perhaps the latest agreement with former Sacramento Kings center Georgios Papagiannis will. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the 20-year-old big man from Greece has signed a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers:
Portland is signing center Georgios Papagiannis to a 10-day contract, league sources tell ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 7, 2018
Papagiannis was selected with the 13th pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. In just 38 career games, he has averaged 4.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
The big man was waived by Sacramento on Feb. 8 of this year and hadn’t found a new home before this agreement with Portland. Something to take note of: since he was waived before Mar. 1, he is playoff eligible.
With the former lottery pick in Papagiannis on the roster, it adds to an already deep frontcourt of Jusuf Nurkic, Ed Davis, and Zach Collins
What do you think of the signing? Can Papagiannis find a spot in Terry Stotts’ rotation? Let us know in the comments.
