Lillard Time Finishes Off Lakers, 108-103

New, comments

Damian Lillard’s 39 points led the Blazers to their 15th consecutive win over the Lakers, and 7th straight overall.

In a tight game on national television, the Portland Trail Blazers held off a game Los Angeles Lakers squad for a 108-103 victory. The win, Portland’s 15th consecutive over LA, maintained Portland’s 3rd seed in the West. As always, Damian Lillard led the Blazers, thanks to his 39 points and late heroics. CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic played key roles as well.

Here are a few essentials from tonight’s game:

  • Good Teams Win On Bad Nights. Portland didn’t bring their A-game to LA, struggling with the surging Lakers all night. But they made big plays down the stretch, including holding the ball with a three-point lead for nearly the entire final minute of the contest, thanks to some timely offensive rebounding. The capped it with a final defensive stand to prevent a possible tying three-pointer.
  • Damian Does It ‘Til He’s Satisfied. Lillard turned on the afterburners yet again, pulling Portland back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit with a three-point barrage.
  • Shabazz Imitates Art. Napier did his best impersonation of his viral commercial for Stumptown Coffee, crossing over Tyler Ennis. Check out the two plays for yourself. Nearly identical!
