ESPN’s Chris Haynes reported via Twitter that All-Star Klay Thompson has suffered a fractured thumb on his shooting hand. He will be re-evaluated next Thursday, March 22nd. Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania added that the team expects him to return before the end of March.

It appeared to happen on this play.

The team has not made an official announcement, nor have they directly provided a timeline for recovery. Meanwhile, the Warriors are already without former MVP Stephen Curry, due to an ankle injury. Per a report yesterday, will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, March 20th.

The defending NBA Champion Warriors are currently in second place in the Western Conference, two games behind the Rockets and ten games ahead of the Blazers. They have lost their last two games, against Portland and Minnesota.

Other Injury News

The San Antonio Spurs may be without Kawhi Leonard for a while longer. Despite reports that they targeted a Thursday return for the All-Star, Charania reported that he will not be ready.

Leonard’s absence, combined with a short-term injury to LaMarcus Aldridge, caused a precipitous fall from the high seed the Spurs had occupied much of the season. They’re currently in ninth place.
