The 2018 NBA All-Star Saturday participants for the three-point shootout, dunk contest, and skills challenge have been announced, and Portland Trail Blazers fans will note that star guard CJ McCollum was not invited to either competition.
The three-point contest features as mix of prominent names (Kyle Lowry, Paul George, Devin Booker) and specialists. (Hello, Wayne Ellington.) Klay Thompson qualifies as both. Other than Thompson—who ranks first overall in three-point percentage and is the defending champion in the event—only George cracks the Top 20 among distance shooters this year. McCollum ranks 9th in the NBA in distance shooting on 5.9 attempts per game.
