Portland Trail Blazers forward Caleb Swanigan has been assigned to the Texas Legends of the G League, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Portland is assigning forward Caleb Swanigan to the Texas Legends on a G League assignment, league source tells ESPN.

The former first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Purdue has played in just fifteen games for the Blazers this season, mostly in garbage time. He last played meaningful minutes in late October, where he registered a double-double against the Indiana Pacers with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Over the season he is averaging 1.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per contest.
Swanigan was assigned to the Canton Charge of the G League in December last season. The Trail Blazers are one of just two NBA teams to not have a direct G League affiliate.
Updated Thoughts:
Note that Swanigan was assigned to the Legends -- they have hybrid status with the Mavericks, meaning they're not owned directly by NBA team.

Implication is that Swanigan was assigned to them by lottery after league couldn't find a voluntary taker.
