Many Portland Trail Blazers players give time and attention to charity causes. Every once in a while it’s nice to remember that aspect of their work. Drew Ruiz of Slam recently profiled Blazers guard CJ McCollum’s advocacy for the Boys & Girls Club of America in a short Q&A.
Ruiz asked McCollum why he chose to partner with this particular charity. McCollum cited his own childhood:
I spent a lot of time at the Boys & Girls Club and it impacted my life, gave me a safe space and an opportunity to do something positive outside of playing sports and being able to find other kids and have that structure, so it was crucial to me.
After covering the questions that kids asked McCollum when he engaged with them, Ruiz posed a hypothetical, asking who would win in a one-on-one contest between prime Kevin Durant and prime Tracy McGrady. McCollum hemmed, hawed, and praised both before begging out of the question.
Why don’t you take a stab at it, though. Prime KD or prime T-Mac: who wins?
