Finally... Resolution!
Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that Washington and Phoenix have cut out the middle man and done a deal directly.
Sources: Phoenix is trading Trevor Ariza to Washington for Kelly Oubre and Austin Rivers.

Austin Rivers will look nice in a Phoenix uniform.
Update:
Since the deal below (Ariza to Wizards, Rivers to Suns, Oubre to Grizzlies) was announced, the principal news breakers—Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN and John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7—have been in a Twitter tug-of-war over role-players included to make the trade fly. Gambadoro has insisted the Suns are receiving swingman Dillon Brooks (6’6, 22-year old). Wojnarowski has countered, saying the Grizzlies are sending MarShon Brooks (6’5, 30-year-old shooting guard).
As it turns out, they may both be right...and wrong. Apparently the Grizzlies and Suns themselves are confused which Brooks is to be included, and the difference may scuttle the deal.
Sources with @ZachLowe_NBA: Deal in jeopardy over which Brooks -- MarShon or Dillon -- the Suns believed it was getting in the trade. Memphis will not put Dillon Brooks in the trade, sources said.

And OH DEAR...
The deal is dead, league source tells ESPN.

And now the aftermath...
Last last thing: Grizzlies vociferously deny they ever mentioned Dillon Brooks, to anyone. They insist that Pera never talked with Sarver. Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace: "Robert Pera did not have a conversation with Robert Sarver about this proposed trade."

The Suns never had any discussions with Memphis or Washington about MarShon Brooks. Dillon Brooks is an injured player so medical and physical information was exchanged before the trade call. Hate on the Suns all you want this one is clearly on Memphis backing out of the deal.

Memphis GM Chris Wallace tells ESPN: "Robert Pera did not have any conversation with Suns owner Robert Sarver about the reported 3-way trade. Our front office also didn't have any conversations with Phoenix regarding the reported 3-team trade prior to it leaking during .." (cont)

Wallace continued: "... our game tonight. We were floored to learn of the reports involving Dillon Brooks in the reported trade. We never discussed Dillon as part of this trade with Washington – which was the only team we spoke with concerning this proposed deal.” https://t.co/FAdhKu0Vgx

Sources: Suns will have Trevor Ariza away from team for Saturday's home game against Minnesota as franchise works on resolution. Suns and Grizzlies had handful of discussions recently involving Dillon Brooks -- never MarShon. For Suns/Wizards, nothing was lost in translation.

3. Washington and Phoenix had understanding about all players involved in trade & knew it was Dillon Brooks as part of Memphis end.

4. Deal never got to official conf. call btw the 3 teams, was told deal died on MEM’s end
5. “Memphis maybe got cold feet,” said the league source.
The Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns are completing a three-team trade that will send veteran forward Trevor Ariza to the Wizards and guard Austin Rivers to the Suns. The Memphis Grizzlies are also involved, absorbing forward Kelly Oubre and sending out role players Wayne Selden and MarShon Brooks. Trade news came first from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
As part of a three-team deal nearing completion: Ariza to the Wizards, Kelly Oubre to the Memphis Grizzlies and Austin Rivers and two Grizzlies role players to Suns, league sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/1EmRCHrjOP

Deal is expected to include second-round draft compensation too, league sources said. https://t.co/zkGAy2p58u

John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 confirms that the deal is done.
The Suns have traded Trevor Ariza to the Washington Wizzards in a three team trade with Memphis. Suns get back Wayne Selden, Dillon Brooks and Austin Rivers

Wojnarowski offers a slight correction:
Clarification: MarShon Brooks on his way to Suns, not Dillon.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) December 15, 2018
And then there’s a correction back.
It is Dillon Brooks coming back to Suns. Reports of it being MarShon are wrong.
