The Biggest Surprise of the Season for the Portland Trail Blazers

New, comments

The Blazers are 9-3. Which contributor to their great early-season record did you least expect?

The Portland Trail Blazers own a 9-3 record, good for third place in the NBA Western Conference at the time of this writing. Plenty of factors have gone into their hot start, but none are as fun to talk about as the players involved.

This weekend we want you to share your biggest surprise player so far. We’re assuming since the record is good, those surprises are going to be positive, but you’re free to define “surprise” however you wish. Which player has been the biggest revelation in the first 12 games?

Three obvious candidates present themselves:

  • Nik Stauskas, who has contributed 8.3 ppg on 40% shooting from the arc.
  • Evan Turner, whose rejuvenation as a facilitator with the second unit threatens to make him a fan favorite.
  • Damian Lillard, whose excellence is expected but who is turning it up to yet another level by averaging nearly 27, 5, and 5 with advanced stats that make even jaded observers blush like neophytes.

Perhaps you have other ideas. Either way, share them below and enjoy the feeling of victory!
