Blazer’s Edge Quarter-Pole Awards: Trail Blazers MVP

Who’s the Most Valuable Trail Blazer in every sense of the word? Not much suspense here.

NBA: Portland Trail Blazers at Minnesota Timberwolves Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers stand at 12-7 after 19 games, right around the quarter pole of the 2018-19 NBA Regular Season. Their start has been full of amazing offensive performances and individual heroics, coupled with a few letdowns.

As we reach the quarter point of the season, we’re examining the best (and a tad bit of worst) so far. We’ll have articles through the day, each covering a single category. We’ll list our vote for the player who most exemplifies the category at hand. You add, augment, or disagree in the comment section.

This post covers the Trail Blazers MVP. If there was ever any doubt, it’s dispelled for good now. Not only is the team winning, Damian Lillard is scoring 26.3 points with 6.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds in the process. He’s lifting the team far enough to receive honest consideration for NBA MVP. Climbing the scoring charts, making national pundits swoon over his leadership, Lillard is doing it all. If, as former television broadcaster Mike Rice was wont to say, “It’s a great day to be a Blazer,” then it’s a great time to be Damian Lillard...or anybody in Portland who roots for him.
