Portland Trail Blazers journeyman Nik Stauskas is drawing rave reviews of his early play in Portland. But how about saying he’s the “greatest offensive force” ever? Jordan Greer of Sporting News offers an early overreaction to Stauskas’ play, and subsequent normal reaction, too:
Nik Stauskas is the greatest offensive force we’ve ever seen!
Overreaction: The Kings made the right pick. They just didn’t unleash the weapon that is “Sauce Castillo.”
Normal reaction: Stauskas is shooting lights out for the Trail Blazers (50.0 percent from the field, 52.9 percent from 3-point range) and giving Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum an outlet along the perimeter when they drive into the paint.
But let’s not get lost in the “Sauce” just yet. Stauskas has never averaged more than 10 points per game in his career, and his poor defense has made him unplayable at times. Perhaps he stole someone else’s basketball powers, just like the Monstars. Maybe they’ll be back in “Space Jam 2.”
Our own Colin Ellis recently explained that the legend of Sauce Castillo is already growing in Portland.
