Blazers Cut Payton, Oliver, Onuaku Ahead of Season

The Trail Blazers trimmed down their roster as the preseason finishes up.

The Portland Trail Blazers have released Gary Payton II, Chinanu Onuaku, and Cameron Oliver today, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

Payton II played four games and averaged 4.0 points and 1.3 assists in 8.1 minutes per contest. He is the son of the former Seattle Supersonics Hall of Famer.

Onuaku averaged 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in three games, and was a hit among fans for his underhanded free-throw shooting.

Oliver played sparsley through the preseason.

Portland tips off the regular season October 18th at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.
