Blazers Helping Nik Stauskas Find Fun in Basketball Again

Stauskas’ time with the Kings didn’t capture much fun, he tells Joe Freeman of The Oregonian.

The Portland Trail Blazers signed Nik Stauskas this summer, who had earned a “journeyman” label after playing with three different teams in four seasons. One stop in particular, his rookie year with the Sacramento Kings, stands out as lacking in fun, he told Joe Freeman of The Oregonian:

”It was crazy,” Stauskas said. “I just remember wondering: ‘Is this how it is in the NBA? Is this how it is for everyone?’ I would look at other teams and it looked like they were having so much fun. I’m like, ‘I’m not having that much fun. I wish I could experience that.’”

The year has already looked better for Stauskas, who’ll likely get solid backup guard minutes:

”It’s good seeing him have a good time,” Jusuf Nurkic said. “He’s a new player, with a new team, and he’s just having fun out there. It’s good.”
