The Houston Rockets are being sold to billionaire Tilman Fertitta, according to a report from Fox 26 News in Houston. The reported sale price is $2.2 billion, which would set a new NBA record.
Fertitta is the chairman and CEO of Landry’s, Inc., a restaurant corporation whose portfolio includes Bubba Gump Shrimp, McCormick & Schmick’s, and the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos. He has also starred on CNBC’s Billion Dollar Buyer.
The deal has yet to be confirmed by the parties involved. Fertitta will need to be confirmed by the NBA Board of Governors before taking control of the franchise.
