The year is 1992. The Portland Trail Blazers are on their way to the NBA Finals, video game arcades are giving way to the home console revolution, and game-makers Midway are preparing to release a 2-on-2 basketball game that will set fire to the imagination of players: NBA Jam. For those who missed the era, here’s a video describing the game and its creation:
NBA Jam was known for over-the-top action, exaggerated dunks, and heaping helpings of flash along with the substance. At the time, the two obvious Blazers to include were Portland’s best: Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter. But what if we could re-create the experience using players from all time?
Understanding the criteria—that this is a video game, that style and sizzle matter, not just talent—which two Trail Blazers would you nominate for Portland’s team? If you want to branch out into suggestions for other franchises, feel free, but at least give us the players who would rock (and possibly break) the rim for the Blazers and put everybody on the edge of their seat?
