The Portland Trail Blazers will retain shooting guard Pat Connaughton for the 2017-18 season, according to Jason Quick of CSNNW.
Blazers just informed G Pat Connaughton they are picking up his $1.4 million option for 2017-2018 season.— Jason Quick (@jwquick) August 31, 2017
Technically Connaughton’s contract was not structured with an “option”, but a non-guaranteed season. By not cutting him, the Trail Blazers will be obligated to $1.47 million in salary, bringing their roster to 14 players and their cap total to $125.7 million.
Selected 41st overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, Connaughton has played two seasons in Portland, averaging 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per game with 73 total appearances.
