The Portland Trail Blazers have been in the thick of Carmelo Anthony trade rumors since the NBA off-season got underway. Many, if not most, trade proposals involve sending Blazers forward Moe Harkless to New York, either directly as part of an Anthony-to-Portland exchange or as part of a three-team deal sending Carmelo to the Houston Rockets. Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News talked to Harkless recently, and reports that the Queens native is content to control what he can and leave the rest to decision makers in both franchises.
Bondy reports Harkless’ reaction to the trade rumors,
“It doesn’t do anything for me to get involved with that,” [Harkless] said. “If it happens, it happens.”
and discusses Harkless’ reaction to Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum recruiting Anthony publicly:
The Blazers backcourt of Dame Lillard and CJ McCollum have been actively and publicly recruiting Anthony, which could be awkward if it means they’re pining for Harkless’ replacement. But apparently there’s no hard feelings – Harkless said he planned on working out with McCollum this weekend in NYC.
Bondy’s article also covers Harkless’ history in Orlando, his fit in Portland, and his basketball camp in Queens, New York.
