Zach Randolph has been arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell following a disturbance in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, this according to TMZ.com. The NBA power forward signed a contract with the Sacramento Kings this summer after playing eight years with the Memphis Grizzlies. His tenure in Portland was riddled with legal issues, but the Grizzlies considered him one of the cornerstones of franchise culture, commemorating his departure with a promise to retire his jersey number.
According to TMZ, Wednesday’s incident began with a street gathering of “a large crowd of people smoking, playing loud music and blocking the roadway”. Three men were detained, including Randolph. The amount of marijuana in his possession prompted the “intent to sell” charge.
Randolph’s new contract with the Kings pays him $24 million over the next two years.
