The NBA trade season has arrived early this year! With multiple trades already in the books, and rumors flying around, it’s time to keep track in a separate post. As always, the biggest news will be posted at the top, and the rest of the rumors will be in reverse chronological order.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Portland has not been named in any major trade rumors. We’ll have a fresh article for any significant Blazers-related rumors.
The Atlanta Hawks shocked the league, dumping Dwight Howard’s contract to the Charlotte Hornets for Miles Plumlee and Marco Belinelli. They also swapped second-round picks.
Los Angeles Lakers trade D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets for Brook Lopez and the 2017 27th Pick. Adrian Wojnarowski notes that this may be part of a larger play by the Lakers’ new management group, and invokes a scenario that Cleveland surely dreads.

The Clippers deny it, of course.

After their earlier trade, the Lakers then engaged in trade talks with the Sacramento Kings. They offered the 2nd pick for the 5th and 10th, to help with their pursuit of Paul George. The Kings reportedly declined.

Lakers would have then packaged one of the Kings’ picks w/27 & 28 along w/player in offer to Indy for Paul George. But Kings said no (2/2).— David Aldridge (@daldridgetnt) June 21, 2017
The Chicago Bulls have been in talks about Jimmy Butler. Things may get done sooner rather than later.
However, David Aldridge set social media afire with his evening update. It was very bad news for Cleveland.

The Knicks are considering trades for Kristaps Portzingis. They’ve engaged in talks with multiple teams.

As hinted above, the Paul George situation is ongoing, with multiple teams interested. But little progress has been presented so far. There were rumors that the Cavs wanted to work out a three-way trade including Kevin Love, but those talks seem to have dissipated.
The Rockets are reportedly shopping Patrick Beverley.
