The Portland Trail Blazers began the month of March with a 24-35 record. They finished it at 37-38. That 13-3 mark was an NBA-best, and the league has subsequently named head coach Terry Stotts the Western Conference Coach of the Month. The official NBA.com release reads as follows:

PORTLAND, Ore. (April 2, 2017) – Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts has been named NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for March, the league announced today.

Currently in his fifth season at the helm, Stotts led Portland to an NBA-best 13-3 record in the month, the third-best March record in franchise history and the first 13-win month since December 2014.

This is the fourth time Stotts has received Coach of the Month honors, the most by a Trail Blazers head coach. He previously won the award in November 2013, December 2014 and February 2016.

Winners of six straight, the Trail Blazers have a 38-38 record and are currently in the eighth spot in the playoff chase.

The Trail Blazers ranked third in the NBA in field goal percentage (48.7%), first in 3-point percentage (41.7%) and fourth in scoring (111.3 ppg) during the month.

Stotts joins Rick Adelman (3), Nate McMillan (3), Mike Dunleavy (2), Jack Ramsay and Mike Schuler as Portland coaches who’ve won the award.

Milwaukee’s Jason Kidd was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month.
