Portland Trail Blazers center Festus Ezeli underwent successful knee surgery on Wednesday morning, the team announced via press release. Ezeli, who signed with the Trail Blazers as a free agent last summer, has not seen game action in Portland to date. He will officially miss the remainder of the season.
PORTLAND, Ore. (March 8 2017) – Trail Blazers center Festus Ezeli underwent surgery on his left knee, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert LaPrade at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
Ezeli will miss the remainder of the 2016-17 season.
The second year of Ezeli’s contract is only partially guaranteed for $1 million, and many have speculated that he will not be in Portland for the 2017-18 season. If he does remain on the roster, he may not play. Chris Haynes of ESPN reports that “It is unknown exactly how long the recovery process will be, but one source said it could take up to a year.”
