Lowe: “Say No to ‘McLillard’”

New, comments

According to ESPN’s NBA columnist, Trail Blazers guards Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum deserve a better nickname.

ESPN columnist Zach Lowe is at it again with his “10 Things I Like and Don’t Like” column and once more the Portland Trail Blazers are in his crosshairs. Though the Blazers have been receiving a fair amount of praise during March, their best month of the season by far record-wise, they exit on Lowe’s naughty list. On-court play isn’t an issue; he dislikes one of the popular names for Portland’s star backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum:

'McLillard'

Let's all say no to this proposed nickname for Portland's sweet-shooting backcourt. These guys deserve a sobriquet; Damian Lillard is an assassin, on fire since the All-Star break in carrying Portland to the No. 8 spot, and CJ McCollum is the league's silkiest pull-up shooter. But we can do better than something that sounds like a milkshake you get at McDonald's.

Lowe also has plenty to say about James Harden, Rajon Rondo’s resurrection, and inconsistency among NBA referees. Check out the rest of his likes and dislikes as well.
